AI safety event

Organizing an AI safety event

A wave of student-led protests briefly closed universities in 2024. With many students suddenly free, I started organizing an AI safety event at a Belgrade high school.

I found funding for food, assembled a team of 10 volunteers, convinced an expert to give a lecture, planned a competition, and reached agreement with the school principal.

Then the high school closed too, over the same protests, and the plan was scrapped. When schools and universities reopened, everyone was cramming exams, I had internships lined up, and I'd updated my timelines — so the event never happened.

Even though we never ran it, I turned the plan into a public playbook so another organizer can pick it up: a Google Drive of replication materials, oriented toward running the event in other high schools.
